University of Birmingham Money Matters game
Every year the University of Birmingham produce a brochure educating prospective students on how to manage their finances. It gets published in the Telegraph and was originally aimed at the parents, rather than the students. For the latest crop of prospective students, the university wanted to appeal to the students themselves, so as a much more appealing method of getting financial information across we developed a simple viral game. The game allows you to customise your character and specify certain financial criteria, such as your available funds from the bank of Dad, or if you wish to take out a loan. As the game progresses you are confronted with a variety of challenges, such as 'where do you shop' or 'do you choose to go out'. The basic idea is that every financial decision has a real-world financial connotation, with some actual examples thrown in alongside a lot of tongue-in-cheek material.
